FAQs
Who are the coaches and players of the Kooks U18 team?
Coaches are active head and assistant coaches from PCAL teams (Aptos, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Pacific Collegiate etc.). Most of the coaches play regularly for the Kooks Men’s club team. All registered U18 players attend high school in the counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, or Santa Clara.
When does the season start?
The summer season immediately follows the spring high school season. Practices start in June with a local tournament mid-July. Scrimmages will be schedule against other club teams in the Northern California region. The fall season begins in September with a tournament in Santa Barbara mid-October. The winter season begins in November with a tournament in San Francisco the week before the spring season begins.
What's the team structure?
The roster is comprised of current high school players (2029-2026 classes) that have some past playing experience. We'll split into two teams when sufficient numbers allow (U16 & U18 teams).
How much playing time will players get?
Summer ball is intended to encourage competition. The best players will be relied on to win scheduled games. With that in mind, the primary intention of this program is for ALL PLAYERS to improve their skill, knowledge of the game, and most importantly, to have fun. In other words, the coaches are dedicated to providing playing time to every player that wants to get better.
How much does the club cost?
All players must have an active USA Lacrosse membership ($35 / year). Tournaments cost between $100-$150 per event. Clinics/training sessions with guest coaches cost $20-$30 per session. 2026 summer, fall, and winter season costs to be announced.
When does the season end?
Kooks U18 play year-round with the exception of the high school spring season (June-January).
How do I pay for a season, tournament, or event?
Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check.
