We aim to grow this indigenous tradition called the "medicine game" for ourselves and future generations to enjoy. Kooks was founded in the Spring of 2022 as a way for post-collegiate athletes and active coaches to continue playing the game that we love.

Most importantly, we continue to help bring our local lacrosse community closer together. Momentum is on our side thanks to partnerships with youth programs Lax The Bay and Santa Cruz Warriors. We also benefit from the support of local university student athletes (UCSC Banana Slugs and CSUMB Otters).

The result is an increase in the number of players, coaches, and referees active in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. We've also seen an increase in high school players that graduate to play at the collegiate level. But we can do so much more!

In a short, three-year history, over 100 players have represented the Kooks in an officiated game. Many players are still active today.

Kooks LC became a Non-Profit organization in 2025. Additionally, the club introduced a summer program that provides practices, games, and tournament opportunities to high school athletes.
